Learning Support Assistant (SEN)
Salary: SCP2 Contract: Full Time, Permanent Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30am - 4:15pm Working Pattern: Term Time Only
About the Role
We are looking for a caring and motivated Learning Support Assistant to support a pupil with Special Educational Needs (SEN). You will work closely with teaching staff to support learning, help manage routines and behaviour, and assist the pupil in working towards the outcomes in their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
This is a rewarding role for someone passionate about helping children build confidence, independence, and positive engagement with learning.
Key Responsibilities
Provide one-to-one support to a pupil with SEN.
Support the delivery of learning activities inside and outside the classroom.
Help promote independence, confidence, and social inclusion.
Assist with behaviour management in line with school policies.
Support the pupil's social, emotional and mental health needs.
Monitor and record progress and provide feedback to teachers.
Encourage participation in lessons and wider school activities.
Work collaboratively with teachers, staff, parents/carers and external professionals.
Help maintain a safe, organised and stimulating learning environment.
Requirements
Essential
GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).
Good communication and organisational skills.
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
A calm, patient and flexible approach.
Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities.
Desirable
Experience working in a school or educational setting.
Experience supporting pupils with SEND.
Learning Support Assistant qualification.
Full clean driving licence.
Personal Qualities
Passion for supporting children and helping them succeed.
Strong teamwork skills.
Ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
Professional, reliable and committed to safeguarding.
