Food and Design Technology Teacher
Location: West Drayton Salary: £160 - £200+ per day (depending on experience and qualifications) Hours: Full-time, 9:00am - 4:00pm Start: September 2025 or sooner
About the Role
We are recruiting a dynamic Food Technology and Design & Technology Teacher to join a high-performing alternative provision in West Drayton. The school supports students aged 5-19 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and other barriers to mainstream education.
You'll lead engaging, practical lessons in both Food Technology and Design & Technology, helping students develop life skills, vocational confidence, and formal qualifications. The provision is known for its warm and supportive staff culture.
This is a rewarding opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about inclusive, hands-on learning and supporting student development beyond the academic.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver creative, practical Food Technology and Design & Technology lessons across KS2 to Post-16.
- Teach core skills in cooking, food hygiene and nutrition.
- Plan and deliver D&T content such as materials, tools use, product design, and health and safety.
- Adapt lessons to meet diverse learning needs, including students with SEMH and behavioural challenges
- Foster teamwork, communication, and independence through practical tasks
Candidate Requirements
- QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) preferred; unqualified teachers with strong vocational experience will be considered.
- Confident delivering both Food Technology and Design and Technology content.
- Experience in SEN, SEMH, PRU or alternative provision settings is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to manage behaviour positively and differentiate learning
- Creative, adaptable, and resilient approach to teaching
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A current Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
