Veritas Education is currently seeking a committed and compassionate Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive secondary school in Batley. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and the school's SEN department, providing tailored support to students with a range of additional needs both inside and outside the classroom.
The Role
As a Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting students on a one-to-one basis and in small group settings.
- Assisting pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties.
- Helping students access the curriculum and engage positively in lessons.
- Implementing strategies outlined in EHCPs and support plans.
- Promoting independence, confidence, and academic progress.
- Supporting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
- Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral staff, and external agencies.
- Monitoring and recording student progress and engagement.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for candidates who:
- Have experience working with children or young people with SEN, either in schools or other support settings.
- Possess strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Are patient, resilient, and adaptable.
- Have a genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs.
- Can remain calm and positive in challenging situations.
- Are able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or are willing to obtain one through Veritas Education.
