Are you an organised and reliable Food Technician looking to make a meaningful impact in education?
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established independent specialist secondary school in West Drayton, West London for a dedicated Food Technician to support the delivery of high-quality Food Technology lessons. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive team working with pupils aged 11-19 with Autism (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, ADHD and associated learning needs.
This role is ideal for candidates with experience as a Food Technician, School Food Technician, Catering Assistant, Kitchen Assistant, Food Preparation Assistant or Hospitality Assistant, particularly within an education or SEN setting.
Key Responsibilities
As a Food Technician, you will:
- Prepare ingredients, equipment and resources for practical Food Technology lessons.
- Support teachers and students during cooking and food preparation activities.
- Ensure the food technology classroom and kitchen remain clean, organised and fully equipped.
- Maintain stock levels and order food ingredients, kitchen equipment and classroom resources.
- Follow and promote Food Hygiene, Health & Safety and COSHH procedures at all times.
- Support students with SEN, Autism, SEMH and additional learning needs during practical sessions.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience as a Food Technician, School Technician, Catering Assistant, Kitchen Assistant or similar.
- Knowledge of Food Hygiene, Food Safety, Health & Safety and kitchen procedures.
- A Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience working within a school, college, SEN school, special school or education setting is desirable.
- Experience supporting children or young people with Autism (ASC), SEMH, ADHD or additional needs is advantageous.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
