About the Role
Veritas Education are working in partnership with a well-regarded secondary school in Kirklees to appoint a dedicated and ambitious Second in Mathematics. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher of Mathematics who is ready to take the next step into leadership, or an existing middle leader seeking a new challenge.
The successful candidate will support the Head of Department in driving high standards of teaching and learning across the Maths faculty, ensuring strong pupil progress and outcomes in line with national expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the Mathematics department
- Lead on curriculum development and ensure alignment with national standards and expectations
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, implementing intervention strategies where required
- Model outstanding classroom practice and support the development of colleagues within the department
- Contribute to departmental improvement planning and whole-school priorities
- Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that enables all students to succeed
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Have a proven track record of strong outcomes in Mathematics at secondary level
- Demonstrate excellent subject knowledge and a passion for Maths education
- Have experience of supporting colleagues or leading initiatives within a department
- Be committed to high expectations, inclusion, and safeguarding
- Possess excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
