Specialist Teaching Assistant with BSL
Pay: £90-£110 per day
Full-time/ Term Time only
Haringey, North London
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Specialist Teaching Assistant with British Sign Language (BSL) skills to support students who are deaf or have hearing impairments within a mainstream or specialist school setting. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring that students can access the curriculum, communicate effectively, and thrive both socially and academically.
Specialist Teaching Assistant with BSL Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 or small group support to students who use BSL as their primary mode of communication.
- Facilitate communication between deaf students, peers, and school staff.
- Assist teachers in adapting and delivering lessons to meet the individual needs of hearing-impaired students.
- Support the development of students' language, literacy, and social skills.
- Contribute to Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and attend review meetings as needed.
- Promote an inclusive learning environment and advocate for deaf awareness across the school.
Specialist Teaching Assistant with BSL Key Requirements:
- Experience supporting children or young people with hearing impairments.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and external specialists.
- A caring, patient, and flexible approach to working with young people.
- BSL Level 2 or above.
