Attendance Officer - Full-Time, Long-Term Role
Location: Bradford, West Yorkshire Start Date: September 2026 Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term Employer: Veritas Education (on behalf of a partner secondary school)
About the Role
Veritas Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in the Bradford area to recruit a dedicated and organised Attendance Officer for a full-time, long-term position starting in September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong administrative and communication skills to play a vital role in supporting student attendance, punctuality, and engagement. The successful candidate will work closely with students, parents/carers, pastoral teams, and senior leaders to promote excellent attendance and help remove barriers to education.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and record daily student attendance and punctuality
- Follow up on student absences and lateness with parents/carers
- Maintain accurate attendance records using school management systems
- Produce attendance reports for pastoral teams and senior leaders
- Work with students and families to improve attendance levels
- Support attendance interventions and action plans
- Liaise with external agencies where appropriate
- Ensure compliance with school policies and attendance procedures
- Promote a culture of high attendance and positive engagement across the school
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience in a school, administrative, or attendance-related role is desirable
- Strong organisational and data management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Confident using school management systems and Microsoft Office applications
- Professional, approachable, and able to build positive relationships
- Able to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
