Job Title: Full-Time English Teacher (KS3/KS4) - SEN School Location: Chorley, Lancashire Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only

Role Overview

We are seeking a passionate and adaptable English Teacher to join a specialist SEN school in Chorley, supporting pupils aged 6-16 with a range of additional needs. The successful candidate will deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons that help pupils develop literacy, communication, and confidence in learning.

This role is ideal for a teacher who is committed to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment where every pupil can achieve their potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons tailored to pupils' individual learning needs
  • Differentiate teaching to support pupils with SEN including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and communication difficulties
  • Support the development of literacy, reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension skills
  • Create a structured, nurturing, and positive classroom environment
  • Monitor, assess, and track pupil progress against EHCP targets and personalised learning plans
  • Use creative and adaptable teaching strategies to promote engagement and progress
  • Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, therapists, and external professionals
  • Support pupils' social, emotional, and behavioural development alongside academic achievement
  • Requirements

  • QTS/QTLS (essential)
  • Experience teaching English across KS3 and/or KS4
  • Previous experience working within SEN or alternative provision settings is highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of additional needs including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and communication difficulties
  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Calm, patient, and nurturing approach to teaching and learning
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
