SEN Teaching Assistant - Inclusion Team
Start date: 20th April Contract: Maternity Cover (Full‑time) Location: Middlesbrough Setting: Secondary School (11-16)
Veritas Education are seeking a confident, resilient and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join a busy Inclusion Team within a vibrant and diverse, mainstream secondary setting. This long‑term temporary role is ideal for someone who excels in behaviour support, mentoring young people, and building positive, trusting relationships with students who require additional guidance.
You will be supporting pupils with a range of social, emotional and behavioural needs, helping them regulate, engage with learning, and make progress both in and out of the classroom. The role would suit someone who is calm under pressure, consistent with expectations, and able to use restorative and nurturing approaches to keep pupils on track.
The ideal candidate will:
- Be confident managing challenging behaviour and de‑escalating situations
- Have experience supporting young people with additional or complex needs
- Be patient, resilient and committed to inclusion
- Work well as part of a supportive pastoral team
- Offer firm but empathetic guidance to help pupils succeed
- Hold a valid DBS on the update service (Veritas can assist if not)
