Level 3 Teaching Assistant
Main Purpose of the Role
To support the class teacher in delivering high-quality education and care to pupils, including those with special educational needs (SEN), and to contribute to the overall ethos of the school.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning and delivery of learning activities under the guidance of the teacher.
- Support pupils individually or in small groups to help them access the curriculum.
- Monitor and record pupil progress and provide feedback to the teacher.
- Support pupils with SEN, EAL, or those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
- Prepare and maintain learning resources and classroom displays.
- Supervise pupils during break times, outings, and school activities.
- Ensure the safety and welfare of pupils in line with safeguarding policies.
Person Specification
- Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g., CACHE Level 3 Certificate or Diploma).
- GCSEs in English and Maths (A*-C or equivalent).
- Experience working in a school setting across different key stages.
- Experience supporting pupils with SEN, including Autism, ADHD, and Dyslexia.
- Understanding of safeguarding procedures and Enhanced DBS clearance/willingness to get one.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with children and staff.
- Organised, patient, and committed to professional development.
