Job Opportunity: 1:1 Teaching Assistant - KS1 (Long-Term Role) | Blackburn Supporting a child with additional needs | Full-time 8:30-15:30
We're looking for a kind, calm and reliable Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a KS1 child with additional needs at a lovely primary school in Blackburn. This is a full-time, long-term position, starting as soon as possible.
The child needs extra support with their learning and day-to-day routines, and we're looking for someone who can build a strong, trusting relationship with them - someone patient, caring, and resilient, who can be a steady presence throughout the school day.
What you'll be doing:
- Supporting the child 1:1 in class - helping them with tasks and keeping them engaged.
- Working alongside the teacher to follow learning plans and adapt activities when needed.
- Running short intervention sessions, focusing on things like social skills, speech or emotional regulation.
- Helping with transitions, breaktimes and other parts of the day that may be tricky.
- Keeping things calm, consistent and positive - even on tough days!
What we're looking for:
- Experience working as a 1:1 previously - especially those with SEN and challenging behaviour
- A calm, patient and down-to-earth approach.
- Someone who can stick with it - we're after someone who's in it for the long haul, not just a few weeks.
- A good relationship builder who's happy to take guidance and work closely with teachers and the SENCO.
- Bonus if you've worked in KS1 before or have experience with interventions or EHCPs - but not essential.
Important Information:
- All applicants must be willing to complete an Enhanced DBS Check and provide references.
- Your CV should cover your last 10 years of work history, with explanations for any gaps.
- You must have the legal right to work in the UK and be available for registration.
