Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? Veritas Education is proud to be working in partnership with a warm and inclusive primary school in Lewisham, seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team.
About the Role:
The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social/emotional challenges. Your role will be to support students both 1:1 and in small groups, helping them to access the curriculum and reach their full potential in a nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to pupils with SEN across EYFS, KS1, or KS2
- Assist in developing and implementing individual education plans (IEPs)
- Encourage positive behaviour and emotional well-being
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and parents/carers
- Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and engagement
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Previous experience working with children with SEN (essential)
- A relevant qualification (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, Teaching Assistant qualification, or SEN training) - preferred but not essential
- A calm, patient, and compassionate approach
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A proactive attitude and a genuine interest in education and inclusion
