The school is now seeking a compassionate and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team and support children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
Role Overview: As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to support students with a range of additional needs, ensuring they have the opportunity to succeed in the classroom. This is an incredibly rewarding role for someone who is passionate about making a difference and helping children achieve their potential in a supportive, nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and small group support for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including but not limited to students with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and emotional and behavioural difficulties.
- Assist with the planning and delivery of tailored interventions and learning activities to meet the needs of individual students.
- Support students with personal care and daily routines as required.
- Monitor and track the progress of students, providing feedback to the class teacher and SENCO to inform the development of individual learning plans.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel supported and empowered to engage with their learning.
- Help implement behaviour management strategies, supporting students in managing emotions and improving social skills.
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other support staff to ensure the best outcomes for students with SEN.
- Promote independence, self-esteem, and confidence in students, encouraging them to reach their full potential.
- Follow the school's safeguarding policies and procedures, ensuring the well-being of all students at all times.
About You: We are looking for a dedicated and empathetic SEN Teaching Assistant who is committed to supporting children with a range of additional needs. The ideal candidate will possess:
- Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), either in a school or other educational setting (desirable but not essential).
- A caring and patient approach, with the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with students.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with both students and colleagues.
- A good understanding of different learning needs and the strategies required to support students with those needs.
- An empathetic, flexible, and proactive attitude to working with children with additional needs.
- A willingness to learn and develop your skills further, with a passion for supporting children's educational and emotional growth.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of all students.
- Level 2/3 SEN-related qualifications (e.g., SEN TA, teaching assistant qualification) would be an advantage.
