Veritas Education are working with an academy trust looking to hire a psychology graduate teaching assistant to work with SEN for September and the beginning of the new academic year. Your role would be working closely with SEN students 1:1 on a full time contract. The successful SEN teaching assistant will work independently as well as closely with teaching staff to deliver specialised 1:1 sessions for students.

You will be helping deliver an exciting curriculum as a SEN teaching assistant where children are encouraged to explore, discover and question through an enriching learning experience. As a SEN teaching assistant, you will work closely with parents, carers and families as a part of the wider community.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A SEN TEACHING ASSISTANT
SEN Teaching Assistant support for Pupils:
- Support pupils to make good academic progress, under the direction of the teacher and Inclusion leader
- Set challenging and demanding expectations and promote self-esteem and independence
- Implement group or 1:1 interventions to support pupils who have emotional or social barriers to learning
- Establish constructive relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations
- Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils
SEN Teaching Assistant Support for Teachers:
- Create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment, in accordance with lesson plans and assist with the display of pupils' work
- Use strategies, under the direction of the teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goals
- Discuss with the teacher how learning activities are to be organised and what their own support role will be
Qualifications needs as a SEN Teaching Assistant:
Essential:
- Psychology degree
- Good literacy skills - GCSE Grade C or above in English Language; Level 2 English or above; or equivalent
- Good numeracy skills- GCSE Grade C or above in Maths; Level 2 Maths or above; or equivalent
