Are you a Physics graduate looking for your next adventure? Have you considered a career in education but aren't sure of where to start? A high achieving and supportive secondary school in Tottenham are looking for Physics graduates for their Teacher Training pathway. You would intially join the school as a Physics Graduate A-level Coach, supporting A-level Physics students. During your second year with the school, there is an option to do your teaching training with the shcool, should you wish to. This is a brilliant opportunity for an ambitious Physics graduate interested in going into teaching, and making a different to the lives of young people.
The school in question work hard to minimise the disparities some students may face, and to provide them with relevant opportunities and guidance to ofset this. They strongly believe that when their students are properly supported, they will thrive. This is where you come in. As a coach, you will work on a 1-1 and small group basis with A-level students to improve their subject knowledge. You will also hold interventions and focus groups for students who could benefit from increased support, as well as tailor your teaching style to individual students needs. Working closely with students to help them develop revision techniques and preparing them for university applications is another part of the role.
This role would suit someone who is interested in training as a teacher, as there is an opportunity to gain a formal teaching qualififcation after a year in the role. There will also be a well structured training program and you will be strongly supported by the school throughout your time with them. Experience working with young people is desired but not necessary. All is needed is a desire to support young people and a strong understanding of A-level Physics.
You will need:
- An undergraduate degree in Physics or a very closely related discipline
- A-level (or equivilent) in Mathematics/Further Maths
- A desire to go into Teaching
- Experience working with young people, for example as a tutor
- Strong knowledge of the Physics A-level curriculum
- The ability to emphasise and build a rapport with young people
