SEMH Teaching Assistant
Little bit about Veritas Education. We are working with a number of our partner Special Schools in Sheffield and surrounding area to support the pupils and staff in the schools. We are looking for passionate, caring and experienced support staff to work to fill multiple positions that have become available.
The Role
- You will be working in our partner special schools as an SEMH specalist, supporting the teacher and the pupils.
- You will be helping students on a 1:1 and group basis with a range of additional needs.
- Supporting the teaching help manage challenging behaviour in the class room.
- You will be helping pupils with challenging emotional backgrounds.
- Supporting the teacher lead activities with pupils to health their physical and emotional development.
Ideal Candidate
- We are looking for a candidate that has a strong care background supporting students from primary age up to the age of 19.
- You must have great communication skills and the ability to remain calm in all situations.
- You must be able to build exceptional rapport with children and yound adults, to ensure trust is built and tension is always kept low.
- You must have brilliant listening skills, and be able to hold and manage difficult emotional conversations with pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds and a challengin past.
- Team Teach training is desirable but no a must.
- Have a good understanding of supporting children and young people from various backgrounds and needs
