SEMH Behaviour Support Assistant
Do you have experience working with children who face behavioural challenges due to Social Emotional Mental Health conditions? Do you have a calm and positive approach to managing difficult situations?
Veritas Education is seeking a Behaviour Support Assistant to work with children who have behavioural difficulties in a special school setting in Sheffield
The Role
- Supporting students with behavioural challenges, helping them to stay engaged and focused in lessons.
- Assist students with severe mental health conditions from past trauma.
- Working closely with the teacher to implement behaviour management strategies and interventions.
- Assisting in the development and implementation of individualised behaviour support plans.
- Providing emotional and social support to students, helping them to manage their emotions and build positive relationships with others.
- Working as part of a team to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
Ideal Candidate
- Experience working with children with challenging behaviour or additional needs is essential.
- Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and strategies (e.g. Team Teach) is a plus.
- Ability to stay calm and composed in challenging situations, using positive reinforcement.
- Experience supporting children or young adults in a educational environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
