Veritas Education have an amazing opportunity at an OFSTED 'good' school that are looking to hire a teaching assistant for a KS3 & 4 classroom as soon as possible until the end of the academic year. This could be the ideal role for a graduate in English seeking teaching experience before teacher training or an experienced teaching assistant looking to further their career in a growing and thriving organisation. This role offers a unique combination of supporting students' learning in English and occasional cover supervising within the English department.
Responsibilities for English Graduate Teaching Assistant:
- Provide one-on-one and small-group support to students, focusing on improving their reading, writing, and communication skills, specifically with students who also have additional learning needs.
- Collaborate with English teachers to deliver engaging and interactive lessons, catering to the individual needs of students.
- Assist students in developing their understanding and interpretation of literary texts, poetry, and plays.
- Guide students in honing their writing skills, including essay writing, creative writing, and analytical responses.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment, promoting student engagement and participation.
- Contribute to the school's extracurricular activities related to English, such as literary clubs, debating societies, or drama productions.
Qualifications and Requirements for English Graduate Teaching Assistant:
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree in English or a related field.
- Previous experience working with young people in an educational setting is advantageous but not essential.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong command of the English language.
- Enthusiasm for working with young people and supporting their educational and personal development.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
- Subject to satisfactory references and an Enhanced DBS check
