Educational Support Worker

Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire

Contract Type: Temporary -Term Time Only (Temporary to permanent roles are available)

Daily Rate: £90-£105

Veritas Education are seeking dedicated, enthusiastic, and experienced Education Support Workers to work in our primary schools across Wakefield. We have both full-time and part-time positions available to suit your schedule.

Role Overview:

In this role as an Educational Support Worker, you will be working in a primary school supporting students with Special Educational Needs, complex needs and challenging behaviours. You will play a pivotal role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs to reach their full potential. Working closely with the teaching staff, you will contribute to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist teachers in developing and implementing individualised learning activities for students with SEN.
  • Provide direct support to students through one-on-one and small group interactions, addressing their specific learning needs.
  • Help in the creation and monitoring of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and track students' progress.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom atmosphere.
  • Aid in classroom management and perform routine administrative tasks.
  • Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours.
  • Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and engage in professional development.
  • Adhere to safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with young people and/or adults with SEN/complex needs is essential.
  • Strong understanding of behaviour management principles and positive behaviour support strategies.
  • Level 2 safeguarding training is essential, this can be offered by Veritas.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and adapt to the dynamic nature of the role.
  • Candidates must hold or be willing to apply for an enhanced DBS upon registration.
  • Have proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
