SEN Teaching Assistant
Primary Schools (Wakefield WF1)
We are seeking experienced Teaching Assistants to join our partner primary schools in the heart of Wakefield (WF1). These schools are vibrant, diverse, and committed to providing exceptional support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and those with English as an Additional Language (EAL).
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and support teams to deliver tailored interventions, 1:1 support, and small‑group activities that help pupils thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 SEN support for pupils with a range of needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and speech & language difficulties
- Assist with EAL support, helping pupils access learning and develop confidence in English
- Work collaboratively with teachers and the SENCO to implement personalised learning plans
- Support pupils in class, during interventions, and across the wider school environment
- Promote positive behaviour, engagement, and emotional wellbeing
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to progress reviews
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant in a primary school
- Strong background in SEN support
- Experience supporting EAL learners
- A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
- Ability to build strong relationships with pupils and staff
- A genuine passion for helping children succeed
