Wakefield & Kirklees
Supporting Children with ADHD, Autism & Additional Needs Contract: Full-time or part-time, term-time only Start: September 2026 Location: Mainstream primary schools across Wakefield & Kirklees
Veritas Education are seeking committed Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to work within mainstream primary schools, supporting pupils with additional needs, including ADHD, Autism (ASC), communication differences and social‑emotional needs. These roles are ideal for individuals who are passionate about inclusive education and helping children succeed both academically and emotionally.
You will work closely with class teachers and SEND teams to ensure pupils with additional needs can access learning successfully. Your support will help children regulate emotions, stay engaged, build confidence and develop positive relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Individual pupil support - helping children stay focused, regulate emotions and engage in learning
- Implement strategies for ADHD, including movement breaks, task‑chunking and positive reinforcement
- Support pupils with Autism, using visual schedules, routines and communication tools
- Deliver small‑group interventions for literacy, numeracy or social skills
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals
- Promote independence, confidence and positive behaviour
- Record observations and contribute to pupil progress reviews

- Experience supporting children with ADHD, Autism, or additional needs
- Strong communication, patience and empathy
- Ability to follow behaviour and support plans
- Understanding of inclusive practice and child development
- Willingness to adapt to different needs and classroom environments
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
- Eligibility to work in the UK
