We are seeking an experienced and passionate SEN Teacher / Head of Department to join a dedicated and supportive specialist setting in Kingston Upon Thames. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and shape provision for secondary-aged students with complex needs and PMLD, making a meaningful impact on their learning, independence, and wellbeing.
The Role
Lead and manage the SEN department across the secondary phase
Plan and deliver highly differentiated, engaging lessons tailored to complex learning needs and PMLD
Develop and implement EHCP targets, personalised learning programmes, and sensory-based approaches
Work collaboratively with therapists, support staff, and families
Support and mentor teaching and support staff within the department
Contribute to strategic planning and whole-school SEN development
Requirements
QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) - essential
Proven experience working with secondary pupils with complex needs and PMLD
Strong leadership skills or readiness to step into a Head of Department role
Excellent knowledge of EHCP processes, communication strategies, and sensory curriculum approaches
A compassionate, patient, and creative teaching style
Desirable
Child and Adult DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain)
