Job Title: ECT SEN Teacher (Ages 4-16) - Full-Time Location: Leyland (Near Preston) Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only
Role Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Career Teacher (ECT) to join a specialist SEN school in Leyland, supporting pupils aged 4-16. This is an excellent opportunity for an ECT looking to begin their teaching career within a nurturing and well-supported specialist setting.
The successful candidate will deliver a broad and differentiated curriculum tailored to meet a diverse range of special educational needs, while developing their practice through structured mentoring and ongoing professional development.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging, adapted lessons across core and foundation subjects
Teach pupils across primary and secondary age ranges with varying needs and abilities
Support the implementation of EHCP targets and personalised learning plans
Create a structured, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Assess, monitor, and report on pupil progress
Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, the SENCO, and external professionals
Promote pupils' social, emotional, and behavioural development
Engage fully with the ECT induction programme, including mentoring and CPD
Requirements
QTS (or pending QTS as an ECT) - essential
A genuine passion for working with pupils with special educational needs
Understanding of needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and communication difficulties (experience desirable but not essential)
Ability to adapt teaching to meet a range of learning needs
Calm, patient, and nurturing approach
Strong organisational and classroom management skills
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
