Job Title: Personal Care Teaching Assistant For Female Student Location: Secondary School, Newham Start Date: As soon as possible (subject to checks) Contract: Term-time only (details to be confirmed)
Job Description: A secondary school in the Newham area is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Personal Care Teaching Assistant to support a student with significant physical needs. This role is essential in ensuring the student's safety, dignity, and full access to education throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities:
Providing personal care support, including toileting and changing.
Safely using a hoist in line with manual handling training and school procedures.
Supporting wheelchair mobility around the school site.
Assisting the student to access lessons and school activities.
Working closely with teaching staff, SEN staff, and external professionals.
Maintaining the student's comfort, dignity, and wellbeing at all times.
Essential Requirements:
Female applicant (this is a genuine occupational requirement due to personal care needs).
Experience providing personal care in a school, SEN, or care setting.
Confident and competent in using a hoist (or willing to undertake training).
Experience supporting wheelchair users.
Calm, patient, and reliable with a caring approach.
Ability to follow care plans and safeguarding procedures.
Desirable:
Experience working in a secondary school or SEN setting.
Relevant training in manual handling or personal care.
Safeguarding: The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful applicant will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check and relevant pre-employment checks.
