Are you passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and helping them thrive in school? Veritas Education are working closely with a number of secondary schools across Wakefield who are seeking dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join their teams. These roles offer the opportunity to make a genuine difference to pupils with a range of special educational needs, including ASC, ADHD, SEMH, and speech, language & communication needs.
About the Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students with identified SEND.
- Assist in delivering tailored learning activities under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO.
- Support students with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and social development.
- Help create a nurturing, inclusive learning environment that supports academic and personal progress.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external professionals.
What We're Looking For
We would love to hear from you if you have:
- Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs (school, care, youth work or voluntary settings all considered).
- A patient, calm, and empathetic approach.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
- A genuine passion for supporting young people to succeed.
- A willingness to follow school safeguarding and behaviour policies in line with DfE standards.
