Outdoor Forest School Practitioner - Join a Unique Nursery Experience in LS16 Location: LS16 Salary: Competitive, based on experience Contract: Permanent, Full-time (4 or 5 days per week) Advertised by: Veritas Education (Supporting Recruitment)

Are you passionate about outdoor learning, environmental education, and providing children with the freedom to explore, grow, and develop in nature? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you!

Veritas Education is delighted to be supporting recruitment for a truly unique nursery setting in LS16 - a Forest School Nursery that immerses children in nature-based learning. We're looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Outdoor Forest School Practitioner to join a growing team that values exploration, creativity, and child-led learning in a beautiful natural environment.

Why This Role is Special:

  • Forest School Approach: You will be part of a setting that embraces the Forest School ethos, promoting child-led learning through outdoor play and exploration. The children spend most of their time outdoors, developing essential skills through activities such as bushcraft, woodland exploration, den-building, and more!

  • 4 or 5 Days a Week: Enjoy a flexible work schedule, with the option to work across 4 or 5 days. This role is ideal for individuals looking to balance career and personal life while making a big impact in early years education.

  • Incredible Development Opportunities: The Forest School environment offers a unique platform for professional growth. Whether you are already experienced or relatively new to the Forest School approach, there is plenty of room to develop your skills and leadership potential.

  • A Supportive Team: You'll work alongside like-minded practitioners who share a passion for outdoor learning, children's development, and fostering a positive, nature-filled environment. There's a strong sense of community and collaboration within the team.

  • Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, child-led outdoor learning experiences, following the Forest School principles.

  • Foster a love of nature and the outdoors by planning engaging, nature-based activities that support children's physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development.

  • Support children in building resilience, confidence, and independence through real-life experiences in the natural world.

  • Maintain a safe and stimulating outdoor environment, ensuring the welfare of all children at all times.

  • Collaborate with parents, carers, and other staff members to ensure children's needs are met and their progress is tracked and communicated.

  • Take responsibility for your own professional development, attending training and staying updated with best practices in outdoor and Forest School education.

  • What We're Looking For:

  • Forest School Qualifications (or a willingness to train): A Level 3 or higher qualification in Early Years or Childcare is essential. A Forest School Leader qualification or experience in delivering Forest School sessions is highly desirable.

  • Passion for Outdoor Learning: A strong love for working outdoors and creating immersive learning experiences in nature.

  • Experience in Early Years: Experience in an early years setting or similar environment is essential, with a particular focus on working with children aged 3-5 years.

  • Creative & Flexible: Ability to think outside the box and tailor your teaching style to the children's interests and needs.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: Able to build strong relationships with children, parents, and colleagues, fostering a supportive and inclusive community.

  • Commitment to Child Safeguarding: A deep understanding of child protection and safety procedures, ensuring the well-being of every child in your care.

  • Why Work with Us?

  • Unique Setting: Be part of a truly special setting that takes full advantage of the natural environment to deliver high-quality, child-led learning.

  • Work-Life Balance: Flexible working options, with the ability to work 4 or 5 days a week.

  • Career Development: With a strong commitment to ongoing professional development, this is a fantastic opportunity for anyone passionate about advancing their career in outdoor and early years education.

  • Competitive Salary: A salary package based on experience, with potential for further benefits.

  • Impact: You'll be making a real difference in children's lives, helping them to build a strong connection with the natural world and develop essential life skills that will last a lifetime.

  • This is a truly exciting opportunity for an Early Years Practitioner who is passionate about outdoor learning and wants to work in a vibrant, nature-filled setting. If you want to inspire the next generation of outdoor explorers and create memorable learning experiences in the great outdoors, we'd love to hear from you!
