SEN Teaching Assistant - Mainstream Secondary School - Full-Time, Long-Term Role
Location: Bradford, West Yorkshire Start Date: September 2026 Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term Employer: Veritas Education (on behalf of a partner secondary school)
About the Role
Veritas Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in the Bradford area to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for a full-time, long-term position starting in September 2026.
This rewarding role involves supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) within a mainstream school setting, helping them to access the curriculum, build confidence, and achieve their full potential both academically and socially.
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff, the SEND team, and external professionals to provide tailored support to students with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, SEMH needs, and learning difficulties.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with additional needs
- Assist students in accessing lessons and engaging with learning activities
- Support the implementation of EHCPs and personalised learning strategies
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENDCOs, and pastoral staff
- Help students develop independence, confidence, and social skills
- Monitor and record student progress where required
- Uphold safeguarding policies and procedures at all times
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEN is desirable
- Previous school-based experience is advantageous but not essential
- A patient, caring, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
