Veritas Education is seeking dedicated and compassionate Secondary SEN Teaching Assistants to support students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across secondary schools in Kirklees. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of young people and helping them achieve their full potential.
We are working with a number of inclusive and supportive secondary schools looking for enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants to provide both classroom and one-to-one support for students with a range of additional needs.
The Role
As a Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide tailored support to students with SEND, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and learning difficulties.
- Work closely with teaching staff to deliver personalised learning strategies and interventions.
- Support students both within the classroom and through targeted one-to-one or small-group sessions.
- Promote positive behaviour, engagement, and emotional wellbeing.
- Assist in the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for candidates who:
- Have experience working with children or young people with SEND (school-based experience desirable but not essential).
- Are patient, resilient, and passionate about supporting young people.
- Have strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Can effectively support students with varying academic and emotional needs.
- Hold a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or have transferable experience from education, care, youth work, or support work settings.
- Are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
