???? About the Role
We are working in partnership with a specialist SEMH provision in Dorking to recruit a passionate and resilient SEMH Teacher.
This is a highly rewarding opportunity to support pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs, many of whom may have experienced trauma, disrupted education, or behavioural challenges. The school offers a supportive and structured environment focused on helping pupils re-engage with learning and develop positive life skills.
???????? Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to SEMH pupils
- Manage behaviour effectively using a calm, consistent, and trauma-informed approach
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students to support engagement and progress
- Support emotional regulation and personal development alongside academic learning
- Adapt curriculum delivery to meet individual EHCP targets
- Work closely with teaching assistants, SENCo, and therapy teams
- Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
✅ The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Experience working with SEMH, SEND, or challenging behaviour
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation techniques
- A calm, resilient, and patient approach
- Ability to engage and inspire disengaged learners
- Understanding of trauma-informed or therapeutic practices (highly desirable)
- Experience in PRUs, alternative provisions, or special schools (advantageous)
