Position: General Teaching Assistant Location: Penwortham, Preston Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only Start Date: 23/03/26 Salary: Dependent on experience / in line with local authority grading

The Role
We are seeking a professional, enthusiastic and dedicated General Teaching Assistant to support teaching and learning within a class of approximately 30 pupils. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher to contribute to the smooth running of the classroom and to promote positive outcomes for all children.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the class teacher in the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning.
- Working with individuals and small groups of pupils to reinforce learning and promote progress.
- Assisting with the preparation and organisation of learning materials and classroom resources.
- Contributing to the creation of a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
- Supporting pupils' social, emotional and behavioural development in line with school policies.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues, parents and external professionals.
- Upholding the school's values and contributing positively to the wider school community.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will:
- Have experience working with primary-aged children in an educational setting (desirable).
- Demonstrate patience, empathy, and a commitment to supporting the needs of all pupils.
- Communicate effectively with pupils, colleagues and parents.
- Be able to work as part of a team as well as use their own initiative.
- Show enthusiasm, reliability and a positive, professional attitude.
- Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Qualifications:
- A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
