You will play a key role in helping the child access learning, regulate emotions, and build confidence both academically and socially. Consistency is important, and the school is keen to appoint someone who can commit to the role for the remainder of the academic year, with the possibility of continuing in the role from September.
The role:
You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to provide tailored 1:1 support throughout the school day. The role involves supporting learning in class, helping with emotional regulation and behaviour where needed, and encouraging independence in line with the child's individual needs and targets. You will be patient, observant, and proactive, with a calm and nurturing approach.
Key responsibilities:
* Providing consistent 1:1 support to a pupil in Year 1 * Supporting access to the curriculum and learning activities * Assisting with emotional regulation, routines, and transitions * Encouraging positive behaviour and social interaction * Implementing strategies and support plans set by the SENCo * Building a trusting, positive relationship with the child
The school offers:
* A friendly, inclusive, and supportive 1-form entry primary school * Strong leadership and clear guidance from the SENCo * A positive team environment where staff feel valued * The opportunity to make a meaningful difference to a child's school experience * Potential for the role to continue into the next academic year
Requirements:
* Previous experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant (essential) * A strong understanding of supporting children with SEN * A patient, caring, and resilient approach * Experience working in a UK primary school setting * Good literacy and numeracy skills * Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
This is a rewarding opportunity for a committed SEN Teaching Assistant who is passionate about making a real difference in a child's early school journey.
