Teaching Assistant

  • Pay: £1700 - £2000 per month
  • We are working with an OFSTED outstanding school in Vauxhall that are looking for a teaching assistant to join the school after the half term break. The school are proud of their reputuation for high educational standards in a creative and caring environment. They are at the heart of the local community and have a strong sense of individuality and history. The successful teaching assistant will be joining to support a student with mild autism in a 1:1 teaching assistant capacity until the end of the academic year with the view to go permanent for September.

    The outstanding school has two forms of entry and lovely maintained facitlies. They operate on the principle of teamwork, recognising that the school will continue to deliver excellent results when their parents, teachers, governors and most importantly, the children to work in collaboration.

    MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A TEACHING ASSISTANT

    Teaching Assistant support for Pupils:

  • Support pupils to make good academic progress, under the direction of the teacher and Inclusion leader
  • Set challenging and demanding expectations and promote self-esteem and independence
  • Implement group or 1:1 interventions to support pupils who have emotional or social barriers to learning
  • Establish constructive relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations
  • Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils
  • Teaching Assistant Support for Teachers:

  • Create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment, in accordance with lesson plans and assist with the display of pupils' work
  • Use strategies, under the direction of the teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goals
  • Discuss with the teacher how learning activities are to be organised and what their own support role will be
  • Qualifications needs as a Teaching Assistant:

    Essential:

  • Good literacy skills - GCSE Grade C or above in English Language; Level 2 English or above; or equivalent
  • Good numeracy skills- GCSE Grade C or above in Maths; Level 2 Maths or above; or equivalent
  • Desirable for a teaching assistant:

  • An honours degree (preferably Upper Second) or equivalent
