School Business Manager Contract: Temporary (approx. 6 weeks) Hours: 8:00am - 4:00pm, Monday to Friday Location: West London, Hillingdon
We are seeking a School Business Manager (SBM) to provide temporary cover at a co-educational Alternative Provision school within a Multi-Academy Trust. This post is for approximately 6 weeks and requires an individual with strong experience in school business management, HR, and administrative systems.

- Co-educational Alternative Provision (AP) supporting pupils aged 11-16
- Designed for students who cannot attend mainstream schools due to exclusion, risk of exclusion, or other complex needs
- Modern, purpose-built facilities with a supportive and inclusive ethos
- Staff team committed to helping pupils reintegrate into mainstream education or transition into further education, training, or employment
Key Responsibilities
The School Business Manager will be responsible for:
- Finance Management: monitoring budgets, financial reporting, procurement, and compliance with Trust policies
- HR Administration: recruitment, onboarding, absence management, staff records, payroll liaison, and employee relations support
- School Operations: leading the administration team to ensure efficient day-to-day running of the school
- Compliance & Policies: ensuring the school meets statutory requirements and safeguarding standards
- MIS Systems: maintaining accurate pupil and staff records using SIMS/Arbor and other data management platforms
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience as a School Business Manager or Senior School Administrator
- Strong working knowledge of HR procedures in an education setting
- Proficiency with school MIS systems (SIMS/Arbor)
- Excellent organisation, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced school environment
