Part-Time School Caretaker
Location: Redbridge Posted by: Veritas Education Start Date: ASAP Contract Type: Part-Time (term time + some holiday hours) Salary: £13-£15 per hour (depending on experience)
Veritas Education is working with a friendly and well-maintained primary school in Redbridge that is looking to appoint a reliable and proactive part-time Caretaker to join their site team.
This is a vital role in ensuring the school remains safe, secure, and well-presented for pupils, staff, and visitors.
Role Responsibilities:
- Opening and/or closing the school premises depending on shift pattern
- Carrying out routine maintenance, minor repairs, and basic DIY tasks
- Ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and security of the site at all times
- Overseeing health and safety checks and reporting any issues
- Assisting with deliveries, moving furniture, and setting up rooms when needed
- Liaising with external contractors as required
Working Hours:
- Part-time, approximately 15-20 hours per week, flexible shifts
- May include early mornings or late afternoons depending on school needs
- Occasional additional hours during school holidays for deep cleaning or maintenance
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have previous caretaking, maintenance, or site management experience (ideally in a school or public building)
- Be reliable, trustworthy, and able to work independently
- Have good practical/DIY skills and a strong understanding of health and safety
- Be physically fit and able to undertake manual tasks
- Hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS (on the update service)
