Veritas Education is working with a welcoming secondary school in Leeds seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team this October. This is a full-time temporary role, with part-time flexibility and temp-to-perm potential for the right candidate.
Role Overview
- Support students with special educational needs (including EHCPs) in a mainstream classroom
- Provide 1:1 and small group support, helping pupils access the curriculum
- Assist with behaviour management and promote a positive learning environment
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
- Contribute to safeguarding, progress tracking, and inclusive practice
Ideal Candidate
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEND
- Confident managing behaviour and building positive relationships
- Calm, patient, and adaptable
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection
- TA qualification (desirable but not essential)

- Experience
- Working within SEND with exposure to ASD, SEMH, ADHD within a mainstream school or provision. Experience scaffolding pupils. Experience with EHCP's. Minimum 3 Months experience within UK schools.
- Qualifications
- Educated to GCSE level. Ideally has SEND specific qualifications. TA level 1 minimum.
