Job Description:
Veritas Education is working with a vibrant and inclusive primary school in Haringey seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) to support two boys in Year 2 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and behavioural management needs. This is a full-time role to start ASAP and offers the opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of young learners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to two pupils in Year 2 with ASD and behavioural challenges
- Implement tailored behaviour management strategies in line with the school's policies
- Support the class teacher with differentiated learning activities and personalised interventions
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment
- Monitor and record progress, reporting regularly to the SENCo and teaching staff
- Liaise with parents, external professionals, and multi-agency teams as required
Requirements:
- Proven experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a primary setting
- Strong experience supporting children with ASD and managing challenging behaviour
- Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and autism-specific approaches (e.g. PECs, visual timetables, sensory needs)
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach to working with children with additional needs
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
Desirable:
- Relevant qualifications in SEN or behaviour (e.g., Team Teach, CACHE, Autism Awareness training)
- Experience working closely with families and external agencies
