Position: SEN Teaching Assistant Location: Newham, London Contract Type: Full-Time, contract Start Date: September
Veritas Education is working in partnership with a primary school in Newham to recruit a dedicated and passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. This full-time role is set to start in September and offers an excellent opportunity to work with children who require additional support to reach their full potential.
About the Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with children who have a range of special educational needs (SEN), including learning disabilities, autism, and behavioural needs. You will provide individual and small group support, helping to create a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child can thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support and group interventions to children with special educational needs (SEN).
- Support the class teacher in implementing differentiated learning strategies for children with additional needs.
- Help children develop their social, emotional, and academic skills in line with their individual education plans (IEPs).
- Encourage and support children's personal development, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Liaise with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to monitor progress and contribute to reviews and assessments.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for children with a range of needs.
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN), ideally in a school setting.
- A passion for supporting children and helping them overcome challenges to reach their potential.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting children's individual needs.
- An understanding of the SEN Code of Practice and relevant educational frameworks.
- Previous experience in a Teaching Assistant or similar role is desirable.
- Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent) is beneficial, but not essential.
