Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1 and Group Support) Location: Lewisham, South East London Position Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only Start Date: ASAP Salary: £85-£120 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Veritas Education is working in partnership with a warm and inclusive primary school in the heart of Lewisham, currently seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity supporting children with special educational needs in both 1:1 and small group settings.
The Role:
- Provide 1:1 support to pupils with a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and SEMH.
- Assist with group interventions, helping pupils to access learning in a safe and supportive environment.
- Work closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and external professionals to deliver personalised support.
- Monitor pupil progress and provide regular feedback.
- Contribute to a positive and inclusive classroom culture.
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience working with children with SEN (in a school, nursery, or care setting).
- Passionate about supporting children's learning and development.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
- Patient, empathetic, and proactive in approach.
- Knowledge of EHCPs, behaviour support strategies, or specific interventions is an advantage.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CACHE Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning
- SEN-specific training or qualifications
- Relevant degree or equivalent experience
