Are you calm under pressure, empathetic, and looking to make a real difference in a school setting? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a welcoming and well-regarded secondary school in Brent, supporting students with special educational needs (SEN), social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, and challenging behaviour. If you have experience working with young people who need extra support to thrive-whether in education, youth work, care, or similar-this role could be a great fit.
About the Role:
You'll work as part of a committed support team, helping to create a safe, structured and positive learning environment for students who may struggle with mainstream classroom expectations. The role will involve a mix of 1:1 and small group work, particularly supporting those who present with behavioural challenges, emotional regulation difficulties, or specific SEN diagnoses such as ADHD or autism.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide individualised support to students with SEN, SEMH, and behavioural needs
Support students both in class and in designated intervention spaces
Help de-escalate behaviour and apply consistent, calm behaviour strategies
Work closely with teachers, SENCO, and pastoral staff to monitor progress
Encourage engagement, build trust, and promote a positive learning mindset
Ideal Candidate:
Experience working with young people with behavioural needs or SEN (e.g., in schools, PRUs, youth work, or care settings)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Patience, emotional resilience, and a proactive mindset
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection
Able to commit to full-time hours (8:30-3:30, Monday-Friday)
What the School Offers:
A supportive and inclusive school community in Brent
Ongoing training and guidance from experienced SEN and pastoral leads
A positive, well-structured environment that values every member of staff
