1:1 Teaching Assistant (Supporting Pupil with Autism)
- Location: Garstang
- Hours: Monday: 8:45am - 3:15pm, Tuesday to Friday: 8:45am - 12:30pM
- Start Date: Tuesday 6th May 2025
- Contract Type: Long term
- Required Qualification: Minimum Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification
We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with autism in an inclusive and nurturing mainstream primary school environment, close to Garstang.
This rewarding role involves building a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil and offering consistent, tailored support throughout their school day. The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping the child access learning, develop communication skills, and feel secure and valued in the classroom setting.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing 1:1 support during classroom activities
- Assisting with personal care, including nappy changing
- Supporting the pupil's individual learning and emotional needs
- Collaborating with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals
- Promoting independence and confidence in the pupil
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds at least a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification
- Has experience or a genuine interest in working with children with autism
- Understands the importance of empathy, patience, and consistency
- Can demonstrate excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Is reliable, flexible, and able to work effectively as part of a team
