SEN Teaching Assistant - Primary School
Location: Lewisham, South East London Start Date: ASAP / Flexible for the right candidate Contract Type: Full-Time | Term-Time Only Salary: £95- £105 per day (dependent on experience)
Veritas Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Lewisham to recruit a passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children with special educational needs.
The Role: As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with a range of special educational needs (including autism, ADHD, and speech & language difficulties).
- Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to support pupils' academic and social development.
- Help create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment tailored to each child's needs.
- Support pupils with behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies.
- Contribute to Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and monitor progress.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working with children with SEN in a primary school or similar setting.
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A genuine passion for supporting the educational and personal development of children.
- A relevant qualification (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, Teaching Assistant certificate) is desirable but not essential.
