EYFS SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Wakefield Salary: Daily rate £90-£110 experience dependant Start Date: ASAP (Temp to Permanent)
Are you passionate about supporting young children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in their early years of education?
Do you thrive in a collaborative team environment? We are seeking an enthusiastic and confident EYFS SEN Teaching Assistant to join our supportive and vibrant primary school team.
Key Responsibilities:
- 1:1 Support: Provide tailored support to individual children with SEN, helping them access the curriculum and develop their social, emotional, and academic skills.
- Small Group Support: Assist in leading small group activities, offering guidance to children with various learning needs.
- Collaboration: Work closely with teachers and other teaching assistants to create a positive, inclusive learning environment.
- Personal Care: Assist with any personal care needs as required, ensuring the safety and well-being of all children.
- Behavioural Support: Help manage and support children with behavioural challenges using strategies in line with the school's policies.
- Observing Progress: Monitor children's progress, provide feedback, and communicate effectively with the class teacher.
Skills & Experience:
- Experience with SEN: Previous experience working with children with SEN, particularly within EYFS, is essential.
- Confidence: Ability to take initiative, be confident in working with children on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
- Team Player: Comfortable working collaboratively with teachers, teaching assistants, and other staff.
- Communication: Clear and effective communication skills to interact with children, colleagues, and parents.
- Patience & Empathy: A calm and empathetic approach to supporting children with diverse learning needs.
Requirements:
- Minimum Qualifications: GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent).
- SEN Training (desirable): Any additional training or qualifications in Special Educational Needs is a plus.
- DBS Check: Successful candidates will be required to undergo a full DBS check.
- Availability: Must be available to work full-time for the 12-week temporary contract with the potential to transition into a permanent role.
