Role Overview:
As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you'll work closely with teachers and the SEN team to support students' learning, well-being, and personal growth. This role is ideal for someone looking to gain hands-on classroom experience-especially if you're considering a future in teaching, educational psychology, or child mental health.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the class teacher with lesson delivery, working with individual pupils and small groups to enhance learning.
Provide targeted interventions for students with additional needs or emotional challenges.
Support students' social and emotional development, using strategies that promote self-regulation and positive behaviour.
Observe student progress and provide insights to the class teacher and SENCO.
Help prepare classroom materials and activities aligned with the curriculum.
Foster an inclusive, engaging, and supportive classroom environment.
Collaborate with teachers, SEN staff, and other professionals to ensure positive outcomes for all pupils.
About You:
We are looking for an enthusiastic Psychology graduate who is passionate about child development and education. The ideal candidate will have:
A degree in Psychology (2:1 or above preferred)
Some experience working with children or young people (e.g., volunteering, tutoring, mentoring - desirable but not essential)
A strong understanding of developmental and educational psychology
Great communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
A proactive, empathetic, and patient attitude
The ability to work well within a team environment
