Role Overview:

As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you'll work closely with teachers and the SEN team to support students' learning, well-being, and personal growth. This role is ideal for someone looking to gain hands-on classroom experience-especially if you're considering a future in teaching, educational psychology, or child mental health.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the class teacher with lesson delivery, working with individual pupils and small groups to enhance learning.

  • Provide targeted interventions for students with additional needs or emotional challenges.

  • Support students' social and emotional development, using strategies that promote self-regulation and positive behaviour.

  • Observe student progress and provide insights to the class teacher and SENCO.

  • Help prepare classroom materials and activities aligned with the curriculum.

  • Foster an inclusive, engaging, and supportive classroom environment.

  • Collaborate with teachers, SEN staff, and other professionals to ensure positive outcomes for all pupils.

  • About You:

    We are looking for an enthusiastic Psychology graduate who is passionate about child development and education. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in Psychology (2:1 or above preferred)

  • Some experience working with children or young people (e.g., volunteering, tutoring, mentoring - desirable but not essential)

  • A strong understanding of developmental and educational psychology

  • Great communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff

  • A proactive, empathetic, and patient attitude

  • The ability to work well within a team environment
