Position: Reception Teaching Assistant

Location: Lancaster

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45 AM - 3:15 PM

Start Date: Tuesday 22nd April 2025

Salary: £14.20 per hour

Contract Type: Fixed term, until July 2025

Are you passionate about working with young children and supporting their early development? We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a well-run Reception class within a local primary school. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a nurturing and dynamic early year setting where children are encouraged to thrive.

The school provide a warm, inclusive, and stimulating environment where children feel safe, happy, and eager to learn. Their Reception class is an engaging space designed to promote exploration, creativity, and early development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. They take pride in their supportive team, where every member plays a crucial role in shaping the learning experiences of their youngest pupils.

Role & Responsibilities:

As a Reception Teaching Assistant, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the class teacher in delivering engaging and developmentally appropriate learning activities.
  • Assisting in the planning and preparation of activities that support children's physical, emotional, and educational growth.
  • Providing one-to-one and small group support, ensuring that all children are fully included in activities.
  • Creating a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes curiosity, independence, and confidence.
  • Observing and assessing children's progress, recording observations, and contributing to reports as required.
  • Building strong relationships with children, parents, and colleagues to support the overall well-being and development of each child.
  • Ensuring a safe, secure, and stimulating classroom environment in line with safeguarding policies.
  • What We're Looking For:

    To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A minimum Level 2 TA qualification or Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working within an early years or nursery setting (preferred but not essential).
  • A strong understanding of the EYFS and phonics and how to support early learning and development.
  • A caring, patient, and enthusiastic approach with a passion for working with young children.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, and staff.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
