Learning Support Assistant

Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and making a positive impact on their learning journey? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN KS2 Learning Support Assistant to join a vibrant, multicultural primary school in Camden. This is an exciting opportunity to provide one-to-one support to a child in KS2 to ensure they can thrive in their education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual support to children with SEN, helping them access the curriculum and engage with their learning.
- Assist in the development and implementation of tailored learning plans for students.
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to ensure the educational needs of the students are met.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports the diverse needs of all students.
- Help with behaviour management and provide emotional support where necessary.
Key Requirements:
- Prior experience working in a 1-1 SEN support role within a primary school setting is essential.
- A strong understanding of the needs of children with a variety of SEN, including autism, dyslexia, ADHD, and other learning difficulties.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting students.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with children, staff, and parents.
Desirable Qualifications:
- A recognised qualification in Special Educational Needs, Teaching Assistant Level 2/3, or other relevant SEN qualifications.
- Experience with behaviour management strategies.
- Training in specific SEN support (e.g., Makaton, PECS, or other strategies) is advantageous.
