Job Title: Food Technology Teacher
Location: West Drayton, London
Salary: £160+ per day (DOE)
Contract: Full-time (term-time only)
Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Food Technology Teacher to join our dedicated team of educators at a reputable Alternative Provision in West Drayton, London (UB7). As a Food Technology Teacher, you will play a vital role in shaping the culinary talents and nutritional awareness of our students. Your role will encompass both the practical aspects of cooking and the theoretical knowledge of food science, nutrition, and safety.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver engaging food technology lessons that align with the curriculum and meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Instruct students in culinary techniques, food preparation, and presentation.
- Teach fundamental food safety and hygiene practices.
- Encourage students to explore various cuisines and dietary considerations.
- Promote an understanding of the nutritional value of foods and the importance of a balanced diet.
- Supervise and assist students in practical cooking sessions and experiments.
- Assess and evaluate student performance, provide constructive feedback, and maintain accurate records.
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel encouraged to ask questions, share ideas, and explore their passion for food.
- Participate in curriculum development, staff meetings, and professional development activities.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support the school's mission and educational goals.
- Ensure the maintenance and cleanliness of the food technology classroom and equipment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Food Technology, Culinary Arts, Education, or a related field.
- Teaching certification and/or experience in education is preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of food science, culinary techniques, nutrition, and food safety.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Enthusiasm for teaching and the ability to inspire students' curiosity about food.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic educational environment.
- A commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive learning atmosphere.
- Passion for staying current with trends in food technology and culinary education.
