Job Description:
We are looking for a caring and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join our Year 6 team at a primary school in Preston. This is a part-time role, working afternoons only, supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) to help them succeed in their learning and transition to secondary school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted support to Year 6 students with SEN during afternoon lessons.
- Work 1:1 or in small groups with pupils who require additional assistance, adapting learning resources to meet individual needs.
- Assist the class teacher in creating an inclusive learning environment.
- Contribute to the implementation and monitoring of individual education plans (IEPs).
- Encourage positive behavior and engagement in learning.
- Support with emotional and social development, as well as academic progress.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, ideally with a focus on SEN.
- A relevant qualification in supporting teaching and learning (desirable but not essential).
- Experience working with students with SEN, including autism, ADHD, or speech and language difficulties.
- Patience, understanding, and a commitment to supporting students' development.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one).
