A secondary school in Walthamstow is dedicated to fostering a love of learning and is searching for a talented English teacher to join them as Maternity Cover. If you have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a proven track record of inspiring students through engaging and thought-provoking lessons, we would love to hear from you!

The school:

A mixed secondary school in Walthamstow,for pupils aged 11-16. The school is known for its welcoming atmosphere and supportive community, where every student is encouraged to reach their full potential. They pride themselves on their commitment to creating an inclusive environment that nurtures academic excellence and personal growth.

The Role:

A part time English teacher position, to start in September. This is a 3 day a week position (Mon, Tues, Thurs) up until December 2024. The right candidate will have suitable experience teaching English in a secondary environment. This role is not suitable for Early Career Teachers (ECTs)

We are looking for an experienced English teacher who can:

  • Plan and Deliver Engaging Lessons: Create dynamic and stimulating lesson plans that inspire and motivate students, encouraging a deep understanding and appreciation of English.
  • Foster a Love of Learning: Cultivate a classroom environment that is both challenging and supportive, where students are excited to learn and explore new ideas.
  • Monitor and Assess Student Progress: Regularly evaluate student performance, providing constructive feedback and support to help them achieve their best.
  • Collaborate with Colleagues: Work closely with other teachers and staff to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive educational experience for all students.
  • Participate in School Activities: Engage in extracurricular activities and school events, contributing to the vibrant school community.
  • Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Must hold QTS and have substantial experience in teaching English at the secondary level.
  • Proven Experience: This role is not suitable for Early Career Teachers (ECTs). We are seeking someone with a strong background in delivering high-quality English lessons.
  • Passion for Education: A genuine enthusiasm for teaching and the ability to inspire students of all abilities.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex concepts.
  • Commitment to Professional Development: A willingness to engage in ongoing professional development and contribute to the school's continuous improvement.
