Description

Veritas Education work across the Leeds area supporting mainstream primary schools and SEN settings with Teaching Assistants and support staff. We are currently needing several staff who are comfortable working on a 1:1 basis with primary aged special educational needs children.

Veritas Education are looking for someone to start in one of multiple positions available with an immediate start. (From the beginning of June Half Term 2024).

We have several full-time roles, across early years to KS2, supporting children with various needs, such as Autism, ADHD, SEMH and communication needs, in various mainstream primary schools and SEN settings across Leeds.

  • As a 1:1 SEN teaching assistant, you must show a talent for dealing with challenging behaviour, demonstrate a level of resilience whilst at work, be able to support the learning of the child and can build meaningful relationships with both young learners and staff.
  • Throughout this role you will need to be able to demonstrate effective behaviour management techniques, build rapport and trust with young SEN learners to de-escalate incidents and promote learner growth, and create a safe educational environment.
  • These positions require you to be experienced in supporting pupils with various needs, depending on the role and your experiences, you could be working alongside learners who demonstrate high risk and challenging behaviour, or providing nurture-based support for children with learning and complex needs.
  • It will be the TA's responsibility to not only guide them through their learning but help manage and regulate their behaviour, whilst working alongside teaching staff, managers, and other support assistants in creating a holistic approach to providing the safest educational environment for the young learners to develop in.
  • The Role:

  • Working 1:1 with a child to create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment.
  • Working within a supportive staff grouping where everyone follows the same standards and ethos.
  • Gaining first-hand experience within the SEN/SEMH sector.
  • Requirements:

  • A DBS on the update service (We can advise on this).
  • Experience working with SEMH/SEN students with challenging behaviour.
  • Team Teach Certificate (Within the last 2 years - We can also train you on this so not essential straight away).
  • Ideal Candidate:

  • A varied knowledge of the national curriculum and basic classroom learning strategies.
  • The ability to apply sensible and suitable behaviour management strategies when dealing with challenging/high-risk behaviour.
  • Previous experience supporting 1:1 with children from 5 years old to 11.
  • If you have the experience and skills that are appropriate for the role of a behavioural support worker, then please apply with your full CV.
