We are recruiting for a unique SEMH school in the Hemel Hempstead area that provides an exceptional therapeutic learning environment for children with social, emotional and mental health needs. This is a highly specialist setting that prioritises emotional development, trauma-informed practice, and relationship-led learning.
The role This is not a mainstream classroom environment. The school is looking for a teacher with genuine SEMH experience who can engage learners through creative, flexible and emotionally responsive approaches. Lessons are highly individualised and focus on social and emotional progress just as much as academic outcomes.
You'll be part of a skilled and supportive team, working closely with therapists, LSAs and pastoral staff. A strong understanding of emotional regulation, attachment, and the impact of early trauma is essential.
Requirements
Proven experience working with SEMH students
Deep understanding of trauma-informed practice and attachment theory
Ability to deliver a creative and adaptable curriculum
Skilled in de-escalation and behaviour rooted in relational practice
QTS preferred, though experienced unqualified teachers will also be considered
